                                     HELP

HELP WITHIN THE EMACS STANDARD USER INTERFACE:

When you press the HELP key, EMACS prints a menu. You can then type a number
followed by the RETURN key to receive the information you want.

Exit HELP by repeatedly pressing the RETURN key. Each time you press the
RETURN key without selecting a valid number, you return to a higher level menu.
At the top level, pressing RETURN puts you back in the place you were before
you typed the HELP key. (You can also exit HELP directly by typing CONTROL-G.)

The same help is also available from COMMAND MODE by typing the word help.

                  HELP FROM EMACS's "help_on_tap" FUNCTION:

At any time when you are in the main display, you can also type ^_ which is
done by holding the CONTROL key and pressing the key with the DEL _ markings.
This invokes EMACS's internal help. Try the C response. It produces a 1-line
explanation of the NEXT key you press. See the documentation.
