This screenshot shows the CVSup's display after completing a full update of the FreeBSD source repository. The repository is 564MB in size, distributed among 48,500 files in 12,900 directories. The CVSup server for this update was 10 hops away on the Internet. The Internet connection was a 56000 bits/second frame relay link which provides 5K to 6K bytes/second of usable bandwidth.
CVSup was able to update more than 44 MB of data in about two and a half minutes, for an effective rate of almost 285 KBytes/second--about 50 times the speed of the network connection.
